In 1863, Hartville played host to a battle between the Confederate and Union armies during the War between the States. Friday there will be a “school day” at the reenactment where all area school students are invited to attend and experience what is was like to live as a soldier during the war. Saturday, there will be two battles, bluegrass music, two ladies’ tea socials, and a Civil War Times ball. The battles will be fought in areas that everyone can observe. There will be sutlers tents set up in the front lawn. Sutlers will sell Civil War period items and food. Modern food vendors including their local Lion’s Club will set up on the East side of the Mansion. The Ladies tea social will take place on the lawn of the mansion. The Civil War ball will be Saturday evening. Sunday there will be a church service on the front lawn along with a music performance and a battle.
