The 2nd Battalion, Hardy’s Brigade re-enactor unit will be hosting the 30th Annual Ocklawaha River Raid Civil War Re-enactment. This event commemorates the March 1865 Union raid on Marion County and the resulting battle near the Ocklawaha River. The weekend festivities will include two battle re-enactments, children’s activities, ongoing Living History events, church service, Ladies’ Tea and Saturday night ball, and some new facets that are being planned in recognition of the 30th annual re-enactment. The Ocklawaha River raid will again be held at the Florida Horse Park, located at 11008 S Highway 475, Ocala, Florida 34480. The 500 acre site features a rolling battlefield bordered by woods, on site water, a pole barn/pavilion for the Ladies’ Tea and ball, etc., with plenty of room for everyone. All branches of services are welcome. A limited number of modern camp sites with hookups are available for a fee. As in previous years there is a $5 on-site registration fee for all re-enactors, with a maximum of $20 per family. The site will open for arrival and set up at 12 p.m. on Thursday October 30, 2014.
