JUNE 3-4 � Virginia � 144th Anniversary Battle of Gaines Mill

Dorey Park, Richmond. Sponsored by Henrico County Recreation and Parks and hosted by the 44th Virginia Infantry, Company H. Come join Robert E. Lee attack Fitz-John Porter�s Federal V Corps just north of the Chickahominy River with Jackson�s forces and the divisions of James Longstreet, A.P. Hill and D.H. Hill. The Confederates attacked all along the Federal line. The turning point came when John Bell Hood�s brigade brook through and routed the Federal center forcing Porter to withdraw his entire corps across the Chickahominy River during the night. There will be a registration fee for everyone 13 and older. Final registration deadline for event and meal ticket is May 15. Cost: $7. Walk-ons $8 with no meal ticket. There will be a battle and tactical each day. Tactical each morning and battle each afternoon. Southern BBQ dinner for participants and dance Saturday night with period music. JUNE 9-11 � Indiana � Civil War Weekend at Conner Prairie

Fishers. Conner Prairie, one of the nation�s fines living history museums, is accepting registrations for the 2006 Civil War weekend to be held at the museum. The museum seeks Confederate and Union reenactor units with an interest in engaging the visitor and interacting with the public while participating in the event. The event will portray a late-war, 1864 impression. Infantry, cavalry, medical, civilian and engineer units invited to register. Artillery is limited to four full-size pieces per side. Activities will include living history, reenactment, demonstrations, citizen activities, a judged tactical and an evening dance. A separate camp area for progressive units will be available. JUNE 9-11 � Kansas � Civil War Days

Humboldt, Kansas, a southeast Kansas Territorial Free State Town celebrates its triennial Civil War Days focusing on the 1861 September Confederate Raid and October Burning of Humboldt. A play covers the court martial of Private Driscoll. Civilian and Military Territorial and Civil War Memorial Ceremony Friday evening at Mount Hope Cemetery. The Sons of Confederate and Union Veterans� camps will speak. Saturday evening dance with band and dance master at city square. On Sunday there will be conducted tours of 12 Civil War sites around town, including a five-building museum complex near the Neosho River and working museum of cabinet maker Patrick Haire with 1800s woodworking machinery housed in 1866 building on city square. JUNE 9-11 � Tennessee � Battle of Parker�s Crossroads Living History and Battle Reenactment

Parkers Crossroads. Battle on the original battlefield midway between Memphis and Nashville. Site of the battle fought Dec. 31, 1862 between Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest and Union forces during Forrest�s first West Tennessee Campaign. All proceeds go to the preservation of the battlefield. 166 acres of core battlefield have been recently saved. Royal Gorge Bridge and Park. Perks include firewood, either powder or gas money and hay. A little known fact about Colorado and the Confederacy was the training camp located at Mace�s Hole (today�s Beulah). Make this event a family vacation. Loads of things to do in the area: whitewater rafting (shoot the gorge), horseback rides, Pike�s Peak and much more. Area loaded with history. JUNE 24-25 � New York � 10th Annual Civil War Weekend

Prospect Park, Troy. This is the 10th annual Civil War Weekend. Events will include battles both days, open camps for the public to walk through and a period ball Saturday night. Encampments will open at 9 a.m. both days and close at 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Coffee and donuts will be available to reenactors both mornings, and a barbecue dinner will be held Saturday evening. Amenities include wood and straw, water, fixed and portable bathrooms. JUNE 24-25 � Missouri � Cole Camp

A battle almost forgotten in history was the second battle in Missouri in General Lyons campaign to hold Missouri for the Union. The reenactment will take place on the original battle site that is little changed from June 1861, except for some buildings that are no longer standing. Period sutlers are invited to participate and are referred to the Cole Camp Web site for guidelines and an application form. Fee for sutlers is $40. Entry fee for spectators is $5 per automobile, and for vans and buses with more than five people is $1 per person. JUNE 24-25 � Maryland � Battle of Westminster �Corbit�s Charge� Commemorative Weekend

Westminster. Join us in commemorating the 143rd Anniversary of the cavalry battle fought on June 29, 1863 with �an almost suicidal bravery� in the streets of Westminster during the Gettysburg Campaign. Saturday events will be from 10 a.m. until dark with activities including Civil War encampment, infantry, cannon and medical demonstrations and a concert by the Benfield Brass Band beginning at 6:30 p.m. Sunday activities include Civil War-era music, relic and uniform displays, battle site walking tours, living history, book signings and museum exhibits. JUNE 24-25 � Maryland � 3rd Annual Civil War Weekend

Jerusalem Mill Village. Commemorates Confederate Major Harry W. Gilmor�s 1864 raid across Baltimore and Harford counties and on the General Store. The raid was part of an overall campaign conducted by Gilmor against the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. Gilmor and 135 of his men, part of the 1st and 2nd Maryland Cavalry, passed through Jerusalem Mill on their way to burn the railroad bridge at Magnolia Station, stopping long enough to �requisition� supplies and �liberate� horses from the store and the surrounding area. JUNE 24-25 � Ohio � 20th Annual Licking County Civil War Reenactment

Infirmary Mound Park, Granville. A scripted battle, drilling opportunities, presentations and more await the troops for Saturday while the tactical and a small spectator battle are scheduled for Sunday. Civilians may attend a fashion show, various period workshops, children�s activities, a military dance, period church services plus living history scenarios for an exciting and educational weekend. Usual amenities plus two superb meals included. Due to the size of the event, artillery will be limited to the first four Union pieces and the first four Confederate pieces pre-registered and prepaid. JULY 7-9 � New York � Heritage Square Civil War Event

Heritage Square Museum, Ontario. The 28th New York Volunteers, Company E requests the pleasure of your company at this small period village just north of Route 104 on the second weekend of July. This is the fourth annual battle in the village and the troops can fight through a sunken road, over a small arch bridge and rail fences. There are flush toilets and town water, a reenactor�s dinner Saturday evening followed by a dance. Battles both days with all proceeds going to the museum for upkeep and new acquisitions. Lakewood Forest Preserve, Wauconda. Illinois� premiere event. Last year more than 725 reenactors gathers amid 200 acres of heavy woods, large fields, ravines and trails to enjoy Saturday morning�s non-spectator tactical and civilian classes, plus an evening meal and dance. This year, we will again invite the public to join us Saturday after lunch for living history demonstrations and evening guided camp tours. Living history demonstrations continue Sunday with a scripted battle beginning at 1:30 p.m. Progressives are especially welcome�fabulous bivouac areas throughout the preserve with few modern intrusions. River Bend Resort in Watertown. Hosted by the 7th Virginia Medical �Kemper�s Brigade,� the event will feature a 15-acre battlefield. Amenities include firewood, straw, hay, ice and showers. Marilla Town Park, Marilla. Battle reenactments Saturday and Sunday and candlelight tour Saturday evening. The London, Ky., Laurel Home Guard will host a three-day weekend to honor the 145th anniversary of the Battle of Camp Wildcat. Portions of the proceeds will be used to preserve and maintain the original Confederate encampment site. Friday will be School Day with living history. Need: people to demonstrate period crafts, impersonations and enough to do small skirmishes. A skirmish and parade has been added to Friday evening in downtown London. MARCH 2-4 � Florida � 30th Natural Bridge Battle Reenactment

Woodville. Sponsored by the Florida Park Service, Leon Rifles, Natural Bridge Historical Society and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. This is a reenactment of the 1865 Civil War battle which prevented the Union takeover of Tallahassee, the only Confederate capital east of the Mississippi which didn�t fall into Union hands. School groups will tour the site on Friday. The Civil War encampments are open to the public from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will have a variety of living history presentations. Sunday ceremonies begin at 1:30 p.m., and the battle reenactment begins at 2:15 p.m. Battlefield physicians give visitors a bird�s eye view of Civil War-era military medicine during the event.
